Community Basketball Coordinator

Logan Basketball Incorporated (LBI) is a not-for-profit organisation, focused on growing the sport of basketball in the City of Logan and South-East Queensland.  As an Association, LBI delivers regular fixtures, junior and senior competitions, representative teams, and development programs. The Association has over 2500 registered playing participants and a database of 10,000 + within the Thunder Family network of past and present connected members.

Reporting to the Basketball and Performance Manager, the successful applicant will support the entry level basketball functions of the business and the junior representative program. With a focus on the delivery of strategic objectives that will increase and improve participation opportunities provided by the Association to members and the local community. You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of grassroots opportunities for new basketballers and identified communities. While also supporting the Logan Thunder junior representative program with administration support and delivery of player and coach development.

Due to the nature of community sport and this role in particular, the role may from time to time require an additional contribution from the successful applicant. This could include working outside of normal office hours and attendance at association events i.e., NBL1. It is expected that the successful applicant remains cognisant of this and make every effort to in assisting the Association in meeting the expectations of key stakeholders.

Essential Duties:

The below is not a definitive list and other duties may be assigned.

• Deliver the Logan Thunder “Basketball in Schools” school participation program (administrative and on court).
• Deliver the Logan Thunder Holiday development Program (administrative and on court).
• Deliver LBI Sporting Schools Program’s (administrative and on court).
• Appointment and rostering of coaches to LBI introduction to basketball programs.
• Junior representative program administration as directed by the Basketball and Performance Manager
• Attend to general day-to-day office tasks such as reception and other admin work as required.
• Attendance at NBL1 games, in a game night delivery support role.

Selection Criteria:

• A strong customer focus, with the ability to exceed stakeholder and member expectations.
• Hold a Blue Card for working with children.

• Have a current driver’s license.
• Have access to a motor vehicle available for work purposes.
• Have excellent written communication skills.
• Be computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva
• Be able to multi-task, work independently and to use initiative and problem-solving skills to organise and prioritise workloads.
• Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
• A high standard of personal appearance and conduct, that is: clean, neat, tidy, punctual with respectful language and manner toward visitors, patrons, and other team members.
• Formal basketball coach accreditation is desirable.
• Previous experience in a similar sport development role is desirable.

Preference will be given to applicants that:

• Have tertiary qualifications relevant to the position.
• Have previous experience in a similar role, and
• Understand basketball in Queensland.
