Job SummaryThis position is to teach dance in our secondary school from years 7 — 12. We are calling to applications from suitably qualified Dance teachers who are passionate about joining the Genesis teaching community.To be successful, you will have:
  • OCT Registration (or eligibility)
  • Demonstrated Teaching experience
  • Knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practices and assessment strategies appropriate to secondary schooling
  • Familiarity with the QCAA syllabuses
  • Experience in curriculum development which meets the requirements of the Australian National Curriculum.
  • First Aid Certification
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work proactively within a collaborative teaching team
  • An active Christian faith.

Role ResponsibilitiesThis role will:
  • Plan and implement a range of teaching programs, demonstrate competent instructional skills, effectively manage instructional time and deliver engaging lessons that stimulate and educate students, provide effective feedback to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes, develop measureable assessment techniques, assess, moderate and provide accurate and transparent student progress reporting
  • Require a high level of skill in embedding the 21st Century Skills of collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving, including the ability to embed appropriate technologies to engage students in effective learning
  • Support the Pastoral and Care and Conduct Teams in caring for students, providing spiritual leadership in the classroom, implementing positive student management strategies, and reinforcing positive work and behavioural habits
  • Ensure all activities are pursued in a manner consistent with the College’s values of Christ-likeness, Excellence, Integrity, Perseverance and resilience (determination), Sense of service, and Respect (for God, self, others and property)
  • Use a differentiated and inclusive teaching approach which includes remediation and extension learning for all students
  • Build trusting relationships with students, parents, peers and other staff and ensure effective and open communication that is timely, efficient, friendly and supportive
  • Keep accurate class roles, student behaviour records and Risk Assessment documentation, and undertake Child Safety and Workplace Health and Safety training
  • Maintain professional confidentiality concerning information about staff, parents and/or students and adhere to the College Privacy Policy
  • Ensure that all documents, academic and other, are prepared and presented in a professional format in keeping with College practice
  • Participate in Staff Meetings, Year Level Assemblies and Chapels, and Parent/Teacher conferences, as required
  • Perform other assigned non-instructional duties which may include, but are not limited to, supervising a range of student activities including support and welfare programs, co- and extra-curricular programs, camps, annual College events, parent information sessions, Parent/Teacher Interviews, coaching or training sporting teams/cultural groups and others, as required
  • Develop professional goals to ensure currency with curriculum and resource development, educational research, technological competence relevant to teaching, participate in subject or area association meetings as appropriate and maintain relationships with professional associations
  • Participate in the “Building Capacity” Annual Teacher Professional Learning Review and mentoring program and setting goals using the AITSL Standards
Role Dimensions and RelationshipsThe Teacher reports to the relevant Head of School and has a high level of autonomy in the day-to-day performance of duties. The Teacher has key relationships with:
  • Head of School relating to Child Safety, parent communication and student management
  • Assistant Head of School – Primary or Secondary Operations Manager relating to day-to-day operations
  • Head of Teaching and Learning and Director of Innovation and Learning relating to curriculum delivery
  • Innovation and Learning Leaders relating to the development of curriculum programs, delivery of lessons,assessment and reporting
  • Pastoral Care Team and Care and Conduct Leaders relating to student management and emotional support
  • Learning Support Leader relating to ensuring an inclusive environment for all students
  • Teaching colleagues relating to the delivery of effective programs
Special Requirements and Working Conditions
  • The Teacher is required to attend the Bray Park campus and may be required to attend out of hours.
  • This position is Full Time.

Person SpecificationEducation/Certification
  • Bachelor of Teaching or Education
  • Queensland College of Teacher Registration
  • Demonstrated teaching ability
