Ryan Catholic College, Kirwan was established in 1979 and has as its foundational story the well-known "Journey to Emmaus" from the Gospel of Luke. About the role

Ryan Catholic College, Kirwan is seeking an experienced and dedicated Events Officer. This is a term time (45 weeks), permanent position completing 38 hours per week.

The Events Officer, under the direction of the Business Manager, provides high level support to the College Leadership Team, demonstrating a degree of self-initiative, flexibility and dependability. This support includes liaison with students, staff and key stakeholders, planning, managing and organising college events, such as expos, liturgies, award ceremonies, parent events, alumni events, assemblies, etc.

The Events Officer will be required to be a point of contact for all college events. The incumbent will be an organised individual with outstanding communication and administrative skills, creative thinking and an overall drive and passion for their work. The position will be required to build strong relationships with stakeholders, staff and suppliers. 

Key Accountabilities

The Events Officer will be highly organised and demonstrate a high attention to detail. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Under broad guidance facilitate the delivery of tasks associated with college event and stakeholder engagement.Plan, manage and organise college events, such as expos, liturgies, award ceremonies, parent events, alumni events, assemblies, etc. with direction from the College Leadership Team.Coordination of events including budget management and event registration management.Develop and manage event timelines, run sheets and event schedules.Develop or ensure that risk assessments for events are completed to College standards and build a database for the College of risk assessment templates for eventsManage the development and execution of college events and prepare relevant meetings in regard to assigned events.Manage and organise ticketing and invitations for college events, including printing and stationery.Liaise with stakeholders to ensure events are compliant with college policies and procedures.Liaise with the Sound and AV Technician to ensure there are appropriate audio-visual requirements at college events.
Act as the College representative to liaise with key suppliers and stakeholders to create and build relations and opportunities.Support the delivery of operational tasks associated with reception and administration, including:Answering phones.Support and maintain student data via COMPASS.Photos for events and new student/s.General typing.Facilitate the response to college enquiries as required.Any other task reasonably directed by the business manager and leadership team. 

Mandatory Criteria

Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland GovernmentTertiary qualifications in Event Management at Certificate level or equivalent qualifications relevant to the position or relevant experience.Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

Desirable Criteria

Previous experience in the education field would be considered advantageous.
