Position Summary  

Purpose  

The primary responsibility of this position is to enage directly with clients on new opportunities and work to define new or existing products or services which meet their needs. The Application Engineer will provide technical support to the client, sales, and commercial teams from first engagement of opportunity until project award. The Application engineer will then assist with handover of project technical details to the project and engineering teams.

ESSENTIAL

·         Engage directly with clients on new opportunities related to new or existing subsea products or services.

·         Works alongside the sales and commercial team to develop a strategy, proposal, schedule, and budget.

·         Works with the engineering and operations teams to align solutions to existing products or services.

·         Define project and product requirements and specifications.

·         Write and review technical descriptions, concept of operations, storyboards, or product specifications related to subsea products and services. Specifically, ROV Tooling and ROV Operations

·         Identify, document, and track project technical requirements (including customer, industry, and system performance specifications) and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure compliance.

·         Plan and provide support during the engineering, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and operational phases of a project.

·         Learn and demonstrate competency in proposing existing internal and third-party equipment for a variety of use cases and custom requests outside of typical design intent.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on technical sales communication

·         Interface with vendors and suppliers that are identified as part of the overall engineered solution,

·         Prepare costings for conceptual design.

·         Conduct and present conceptual designs for review by internal stakeholders and customers as required.

·         Conduct risk review or PFMEA on conceptual design.

·         Travel as required including offshore, domestically and internationally

·         Other duties as assigned

Qualifications  

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelorâs degree in Mechanical, Ocean, Electrical, or Other Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
  • Experience in product design and development
  • Experience in the subsea oil & gas industry with a strong preference towards subsea ROV Operations and systems

·         Knowledge of industry standards (API, ISO, DNV, ASTM, etc.)

·         Proficient Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·         Ability to read schematics including electrical, instrumentation, hydraulic and mechanical drawings

·         Hold/maintain a valid passport and be willing to travel

DESIRED

·         Experience with bids and proposals, budget estimation, scheduling, and commercial terms and conditions

·         Experience with Oceaneering products and services

·         Experience with ROV Tooling

·         Experience with electro-hydraulic control systems

·         Experience with industry standards

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

·         Knowledge/experience of subsea systems including AUV, ROVs, interventions and related robotic and electromechanical and sonar systems is strongly desired

·         Knowledge of operations in the subsea industry is strongly desired

·         Knowledge/experience with PCBs is strongly desired

·         Experience with Labview, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Ansys, or other industry standard design packages

·         Proficiency with common office productivity software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

·         Ability to make objective decisions timely and effectively

·         Ability to work within tight deadline windows

·         Ability to work under general direction

·         Ability to work in a high-pressure offshore environment

·         Ability to clearly communicate potential issues and resolutions

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows. 

·         Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night.

·         Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place. 

  • Work surface is stable (flat).
