Job SummaryThe Scholarly Teaching Fellow will undertake teaching, course and/or program coordination and curriculum development at undergraduate and possibly postgraduate levels and be expected to have demonstrated teaching experience. The position is primarily a teaching position (up to 75% work allocation in teaching) with the remainder being devoted to scholarship and service. The Scholarly Teaching Fellow will have a strong commitment toward teaching and learning and a passion for actively contributing toward quality improvement of teaching and improving the student experience.Key Accountabilities
  • Prepare and conduct lectures and tutorials, seminars, practical classes, demonstration, workshops, student field excursions, and studio sessions including assessment and consultation with students.
  • Review and improve teaching activities, and engage in continuing professional development related to teaching and scholarship.
  • Develop courses for online delivery and engage in online teaching.
  • Convene courses and contribute to curriculum development with appropriate advice and support of senior colleagues.
  • Participate in the administrative and marketing activities of the School, and in outreach to the community and/or profession.
  • Contribute to the School and University through collaborations with other staff, participation on committees and other activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic and administrative staff and undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Undertake scholarly activities that improve the quality, innovation and evidence-base of teaching.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including equity and health and safety and exhibit good practice in relation to same.
  • Support fair, ethical and professional work practices in accordance with the University Code of Conduct.
Selection Criteria
  • PhD qualified in the discipline of Psychology.
  • Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching, with high quality outcomes in teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience in undergraduate and possibly postgraduate teaching, course development, and coordination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in teaching and curriculum development at the tertiary education level, together with proven experience in online teaching, blended delivery and / or flexible learning course development.
  • Demonstrated experience in improving the quality, innovation and currency of teaching.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a collegial manner and contribute to the positive culture and aspirations of the School and University including collaborating with other staff, participation on committees, contributing to the marketing of school programs.
