Zenviron have a permanent position available for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the engineering team based in the Newcastle Office. Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader, you will be responsible for providing quality, safe, and commercially effective engineering designs for large scale wind farms and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

If you are an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer skilled in high voltage system design, who wants to be a part of key growth across the renewables sector, come and join the inclusive and high performing Zenviron team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering the design of large scale high voltage infrastructure projects including the engineering of:
  • System analysis and studies
  • Earthing systems
  • Substation primary, protection and control systems
  • Secondary schematics and panel design
  • LVAC and LVDC systems
  • Underground and overhead collector systems
  • Leading electrical equipment specification and procurement activities, co-ordinating suppliers and subcontractors
  • Understanding your WHS responsibilities and actively promoting and supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • Providing technical leadership and support to other members of the Engineering team and project teams
  • Ensuring all designs/documentation meet the relevant standards AS/IEC
  • Providing engineering support to project electrical works including engineering investigations, site inspections, solving problems and making recommendations

What we are looking for:

  • Australian recognised Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia (or be eligible to obtain on commencement)
  • State-based Professional Engineer registration (or be eligible to obtain on commencement)
  • Proven experience in electrical infrastructure engineering design for HV substation or large scale renewable energy projects, with a focus on primary system design (highly regarded)
  • Working knowledge of PowerFactory, PSCAD, CDEGS design software
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail in the delivery of effective and high quality designs
  • Strong ability to mentor engineers to develop capabilities
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Proof of right to work in Australia

To be successful in this role you will require well-developed interpersonal skills to assist you in building effective stakeholder relationships both internally and externally, whilst you will demonstrate a team orientated approach to work and commitment to continuous improvement. Through utilising your time management skills you will have the ability to achieve tight deadlines whilst delivering high quality and effective designs, and for this we offer an attractive remuneration package.
