Minimum Requirements
  • PhD or Doctorate in Chemistry or related areas
  • Strong background in inorganic chemistry or organometallic chemistry as well as related areas
  • Good knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry, catalyst development, and ligand design
  • Strong background in the development of novel catalytic systems, with special focus on hydrogenations/dehydrogenations
  • Strong expertise with glovebox and Schlenk techniques, including the isolation of highly unstable organometallic catalytic intermediates
  • Excellent knowledge of NMR methods and chromatography techniques. Previous experience in the in-depth characterization of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts and organic/organometallic products using various analytical techniques (e.g., gas chromatography, NMR spectroscopy, FTIR, XRD, XPS, elemental analysis, ICP-MS, transmission electron microscopy) is necessary.
  • Relevant publication record, manuscripts in high-impact journals

  • Research in the area of sustainable catalysis and green chemistry
  • Development of sustainable transformations involving dehydrogenation and hydrogenation transformations using transition metal-based homogeneous/heterogeneous catalysis and/or metal-free processes
  • Highly efficient hydrogen generation from biomass and other waste streams
  • Manipulation of platform chemicals and building blocks from renewable resources
  • Design of ionic liquids and deep-eutectic solvents, and their application in sustainable catalysis
  • Preparation and writing of high impact scientific publications
  • Cooperation within the ‘Department of Chemistry’ (University of Graz), Graz Technological University (TU Graz) as well as national/international collaboration with academic/industry partners
  • Preparation, writing, and submission of competitive national and international funding grants
  • Organizational and administrative duties including quotation, acquisition, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
