National Fleet Manager

The National Fleet Manager (NFM) is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and optimisation of Fliit’s national fleet management program. This includes procurement, supplier negotiations, asset lifecycle management, logistics coordination, and cost-efficiency initiatives. The NFM will play a pivotal role in ensuring best-in-class fleet operations that support the company’s rapid growth and deliver superior value to clients.

As a key leader within the organisation, the NFM will work closely with the General Manager and Logistics Manager to establish and refine fleet management processes, drive operational excellence, and improve overall business performance.

Working closely with the GM, the NFM is responsible for:

  • Full review of current fleet management systems and processes.
  • Design of a best-in-class, fit-for-purpose fleet management program, then managing the integration of the program to achieve fleet optimisation/utilisation goals.
  • Develop standardised processes and systems in line with optimisation of end-to-end lifecycle of all light vehicles.
  • Responsible to ascertain impactful improvements that can be driven in procurement, asset maintenance, and optimisation of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) through whole-of-life asset management.
  • Responsible for development and execution of a rolling 5-year CAPEX investment plan.
  • Establishment of KPIs and standards and managing the organisation's compliance to relevant standards.
  • Works across all business units to ensure maximised asset utilisation with a view to reduce operating costs and optimise return on invested capital.
  • Responsible to develop and deliver fleet-related budgets.
  • Develop and manage the national network of logistics providers and introduce processes, procedures, and standards.

What you will bring to this role:

  • 5+ years of experience in strategic and hands-on vehicle fleet and logistics management.
  • Proven success challenging the status quo as you identify the 'as is' and 'to be' re systems and processes to support the design of a fit-for-purpose, best-in-class national fleet management solution.
  • Experience in establishing a national program in either a green field or consolidation scenario is also attractive.
  • Experience designing a fleet partner framework, which includes managing supplier and service partner relationships to deliver optimised operating performance and service outcomes.
  • Proven analytical skills & commercial acumen - maximising asset utilisation and proactively identifying efficiency opportunities.
  • Demonstrated understanding of operational complexity regarding tool-of-trade/industrial services or logistics-type operations.
  • Strong safety focus with a preventative/proactive approach and the ability to manage any OH&S issues to resolution.
  • A preference to create frameworks and identify best-in-class standardisation practices to maximise asset lifecycle.
  • An ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly to changing technical/business priorities.
  • Highly organised and deadline-driven.
  • Strong decision-making, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated project management and change management expertise.
  • A highly collaborative style/approach, with proven success engaging a wide stakeholder group to drive/deliver significant improvements.
