Due to sustained growth, Aston Consulting's acoustic engineering division is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Acoustic Engineer to join our Melbourne CBD team.

Aston Acoustics is a key pillar of the greater Aston Group, operating as an independent team with a strong focus on architectural acoustics and building services noise control. While commercial fitouts remain central to our work, our expertise extends beyond workplace wellness, encompassing a diverse range of bespoke acoustic projects.
As part of Aston, the successful candidate will be required to assist in the growth and development of Aston Acoustics team, contributing to project deliverables and opportunities nation-wide.
This is a full-time office-based role with the successful candidate based in our Melbourne CBD Office. We are seeking a motivated candidate who is able to operate independently whilst collaborating with the established Sydney based team on a regular basis.
Primary Duties
As a key member of the Aston Acoustics team, you will:
- Undertake acoustic calculations and formulate project-specific solutions.
- Assist in the development and technical review of acoustic documentation.
- Operate autonomously whilst also collaborating with other team members across projects.
- Collaborate with both Aston's internal engineering divisions as well as external consultants.
- Prepare fee proposals and assist with developing client relationships.
- Ensure on-time delivery of required project documentation and deliverables.
- Liaise with project managers and design teams to ensure project acoustic requirements are coordinated successfully.
- Assist in document control, quality assurance and management processes.
- Assist in the development of 3D acoustic modelling and analysis.
Candidates must be willing and able to undertake on-site inspections and acoustic testing within the Melbourne CBD and surrounds on a regular basis. Occasional outside of interstate travel will also be required as part of this role. Candidates should consider that on occasion, acoustic testing outside of business hours will be required.
Qualifications / Skills
As a key part of our acoustics team, we are seeking candidates who possess:
- A strong passion for acoustics.
- Minimum 4 – 5 years of relevant full-time experience working as an Acoustic Engineer (building acoustics experience is desirable).
- A relevant tertiary qualification in either engineering, science, architectural science or acoustics related field (such as audio engineering or sound production).
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a team cohesively and manage assigned projects autonomously.
- Experience and competency in acoustic modelling software.
- Membership with the Australian Acoustical Society (M,AAS) is desirable but not essential.
- A valid driver's license.
