Business Development Manager – General Practice Australia Program (GPAP)

Location: Gold Coast (Australia)
Employment Type: Full-time (38 hours per week)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

About GPAP

The General Practice Australia Program (GPAP) is committed to supporting International Medical Graduates (IMGs) in successfully integrating into the Australian healthcare system. Our mission is to equip IMGs with the knowledge and tools they need to provide high-quality patient care while optimizing their practice efficiency and billings within the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) framework.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Manager with extensive practice management experience to play a key role in growing the GPAP business. This role focuses on assisting IMGs to understand and enhance their billings ethically and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business development, practice management, and healthcare billing and will be responsible for:

  • Providing one-on-one virtual check-ins with doctors, offering respectful yet educational guidance on improving MBS billings.
  • Recruiting, training, and managing a team of business development professionals.
  • Developing course materials to support GPAP's education initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with Medicare regulations, guiding doctors to bill correctly and ethically.
  • Driving business growth by empowering doctors with the knowledge to increase their billings within legal and professional boundaries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and frameworks to assist IMGs in optimizing their MBS billings.
  • Provide virtual coaching and guidance to doctors and practice managers, ensuring they fully understand billing entitlements.
  • Build and lead a high-performing business development team, including recruitment, training, and ongoing management.
  • Create structured course materials and training programs for IMGs and internal staff.
  • Identify opportunities for business growth and improve the GPAP service offering.
  • Collaborate with medical professionals and practice managers to ensure all billing advice aligns with best practices and Medicare compliance.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:
Extensive experience in practice management in general practice.
Strong understanding of MBS billing structures and compliance requirements.
A business qualification (e.g., Business Administration, Health Management, or a related field).
Demonstrated experience in business development, team leadership, and strategic growth.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to educate and guide doctors and practice managers with respect and professionalism.
Ability to develop training resources and course materials.
A proactive, growth-driven mindset with a strong focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
