Are you a Chief Engineer looking for your next position? Taw-Con is seeking a skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Defence Consultant, you will be pivotal in providing expert advice and strategic solutions to enhance our clients' capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Defence and experience as a SEM or Chief Engineer, with a proven track record of delivering results.

Under general guidance from the Commonwealth Chief Engineer, the Deputy Chief Engineer leads the Engineering Support Team. The primary role of the position is governing the application of the Engineering Management System (EMS), conducting Design reviews, and providing decision support for the management of technical integrity. The position also closely collaborates with the Product Engineering Manager, providing additional management capacity and business continuity for the broader Engineering Team.

The Deputy Chief Engineer works collaboratively with the PEM, Product Stream Leads, and the Project Delivery Office (PDO) to plan, manage, and execute the delivery of the Project.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (preferred) or Information Technology
  • Bachelor Degree in Software Engineering
  • 10+ years engineering experience

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Ensure sufficient engineering rigor and assurance is applied to the engineering and other technical activities occurring within SPO.
  • Manage the Engineering Support Team.
  • Collaborate with the Product Engineering Manager to plan and conduct appropriate system reviews.
  • Conduct and oversee day-to-day management activities associated with the execution of the engineering management system.
  • Coach and mentor the Engineering Team members.
  • Ensure consistent communication and flow of information across channels within the Project Team, to senior executives, and other stakeholders tailored to their needs.
