Role Purpose:

We are expanding the core of our Analytical Characterization (AC) team in Kundl, Austria - to supply cutting edge analytics and in-depth protein knowledge for challenging new biological entities (NBEs).

We support biopharmaceuticals from the development phase to commercialization and up to life-cycle management activities. AC applies a wide range of physico-chemical analytical techniques with a focus on mass spectrometry to characterize biopharmaceutical products.

We are looking for an associate with profound interest and joy in hands-on mass spectrometry-based protein, peptide and glycan analysis.

You are excited by new analytical challenges and willing to stay on track "till the riddles are solved".

Your key responsibilities:

  • You design, plan, perform and document scientific experiments for the characterization of therapeutic proteins, their posttranslational modifications, degradation products under mínimal supervision using state of the art LC-MS instruments.
  • Essential tasks include generation, evaluation and interpretation of data as well as proper communication of results. You perform and document complex analytical tasks within the scope of established procedures.
  • You prepare technical documents including study protocols and reports or analytical procedures
  • You are responsible for the maintenance and qualification of lab equipment.
  • Participate in functionspecific sub teams and fulfill assigned tasks and responsibilities under mínimal supervision.

Minimum requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Technical expert studies with PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology or other natural sciences or Master of Science with at least 2-3 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Handson experience with mass spectrometric characterization of proteins/peptides/glycans is mandatory. Theoretical and practical knowledge of stateoftheart ESI-QTOF, Orbitrap or MALDI-TOF MS technologies as well as MS data processing software solutions (e.g. Xcalibur, Refiner MS, Analyst, GPMAW) is required.
  • You have a pivotal interest in instrumental analytical approaches and the ability to obtain proficiency in new technologies in short time. You are able to think "outside the box" and explore new avenues of analytical characterization.
  • Fluency in English (oral and written), knowledge of German is a plus.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Proficient scientific/technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Broad experience in protein/peptide/glycan separation approaches (i.e. chromatographic, various modes).
  • Independent, thorough and reliable working style, ability to troubleshoot analytical equipment and processes.
  • Understanding of development activities and processes in Biopharma and knowledge on relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Basic programming skills (e.g. R, Phyton)

In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement.

For this position the minimum salary is €54,735.38/year (on a full time basis). We also offer a potential market oriented excess payment in line with your experience and qualifications.
