MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
The WWF Global Conservation Division (GCDiv.) aims to unite WWF Offices around the delivery of a common conservation strategy.

It comprises the leaders, teams and related network communities of the nine global practices, the teams of Planning, Enabling & Integration, Global Policy & Advocacy, Global Campaigns, Corporate Engagement, Collective Conservation Impact and Area-based Conservation (or such variations of these departments as may be agreed from time to time).

These units work together to encourage, inform, support and facilitate the optimal convergence of conservation functions across the WWF Network.


MAJOR FUNCTIONS


Working closely with the Head/Senior Expert Collective Conservation Impact and the Manager, Network Planning & Performance, the Senior Specialist, Collective Conservation Impact will play a key role in the delivery of network-level efforts to improve impact planning, monitoring and reporting.

This role will manage the Joint Impact Collaboration Committee, the key governance mechanism to systematise collaboration between teams working on impact across the WWF network.

They will also play a key role in the implementation of the global-level impact monitoring system; and will coordinate Practice and Initiative-level reporting requirements.


They will collaborate closely with colleagues from the Global Science Team and other WWF International Divisions (especially Country Office Management which is responsible for WWF-International country office systems and reporting and the Division of Finance and Quality Assurance which is responsible for operationalising the Monitoring & Evaluation system) as well as other key Office and functions within the WWF network to ensure that the WWF network has a seamless, high-quality system of metrics, measurement and consistent reporting.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Manage the Joint Impact Collaboration Committee (JICC) (Anticipated to be approx. 30% of time)


The recently-established JICC is the formal coordination body for systematising collaboration between different teams working on impact monitoring and reporting at WWF to ensure consistency and harmonisation of approaches.

This role will provide Secretariat support to the JICC, including:

  • Manage the agenda of the JICC
  • Liaise with JICC members and other internal stakeholders to ensure that supporting documents are submitted in a timely manner and are of high quality
  • Prepare prereading packs and ensuring that they are circulated well in advance of each meeting
  • Brief the JICC Chair prior to each meeting
  • Manage logistics of virtual meetings
  • Prepare meeting minutes, reports and internal communications related to the JICC as required
  • Ensure followup of action items
B. Implementation of global-level impact monitoring system (Anticipated to be approx. 50% of time)


The Collective Conservation Impact team is currently working with external experts to design a global-level impact monitoring system based primarily around external datasets, including satellite based remote sensing data.

This role will be responsible for ongoing implementation of the impact monitoring system.

While the structure of the system will be developed in coming months, it is expected that this will involve:

  • Collaborate with external experts and internal WWF network stakeholders to contribute to co design and ongoing development of the impact monitoring system
  • Establish and manage relationships with external data providers to ensure timely provision of relevant data
  • Work with internal experts (such a remote sensing specialists) to compile, analyse and synthesise relevant data and advise on its use
  • Present data in formats that facilitate interpretation and decisionmaking (eg. maps, graphs, dashboards)
  • Summarise data analyses and contribute to / prepare reports and presentations for a variety of audiences (eg. Executive Team, NET, Board) to support decision making, adaptive management and external communications
