Institute for Marketing and Consumer Research
Part-time, 30 hours/week
Starting March 01, 2023 and ending after 6 years
You care about consumer research from a scientific, a company and societal perspective? You want to satisfy your intellectual curiosity and deepen your research skills while developing your teaching experience?

This position opens doors to an academic career or a later switch to a career in business for a self-motivated, passionate researcher and team player, who wants to make a significant contribution to the Institute's agendas.

The Institute for Marketing & Consumer Research ) is part of the Marketing Department at WU Vienna. The team is committed to excellence and relevance in researching and teaching at the intersection of psychology and marketing.

Members of the institute are actively engaged in the international scientific community, they work interdisciplinary, and they aim to publish the output of their research in renowned international peer-reviewed journals putting a particular focus on star publications.


What to expect:

Writing a dissertation:You will be investigating your research topic and spending a third of your working hours on writing your dissertation within the field of consumer research. Scientifically grounded consumer insights are among the most valuable resources of our times. Understanding human beings in their role as consumers is of utmost importance, from a managerial, societal and individual consumer perspective.

Teaching and teaching support:You will be planning and teaching courses in the field of marketing and consumer research yourself, primarily on bachelor level. Our program also nourishes tight links to the business world and we frequently engage in industry projects; partly in the form of practice-led teaching.

Student support:You will be available to answer students' questions and provide feedback, act as a co-advisor for bachelor and master theses, as well as help with administrative tasks to support the successful operation of the institute.

Organizational and administrative support:You will be working together with an experienced, interdisciplinary and international team. We live a culture in which we mutually support each other. We seek a person that can support the team in both its tasks and spirit. An excellent set of structures at WU and the department supports this mission (well-reputed research seminar series, lab facilities, staff trainings, brownbag seminars, conference support, etc.).

Building up a personal network:You will be using the prae-doc phase to create your own professional network for the future.

What you have to offer:

Degree:We are looking for applicants with a master degree in business or related disciplines that provide a solid grounding for the pursuit of consumer research (e.g., psychology, sociology, communication sciences, economics, anthropology)

Data analysis:You have sound methodological skills and knowledge in both, qualitative as well as quantitative research methods. Sound knowledge in Marketing is desirable and will have to be acquired in case of a lack of prior knowledge.

Willingness to use multimedia teaching methods:Experience in teaching, or in using multimedia teaching and learning formats is an asset (e.g., as student assistant or tutor). You should be motivated to continuously improve your didactic skills with WU's qualification program.

Experience in marketing and consumer research:Experience in marketing or a related field (e.g., through internships or student jobs) is beneficial.

Communication skills:Excellent English skills, written and spoken are expected; proficiency in German is desirable
