internship is your opportunity to build a career
in Engineering as a
System Engineer within ALSTOM Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) in
Vienna.

In this internship you will learn how a System Engineer is specifying, designing, commissioning and testing parts of the LRV's control system (e.g. braking, propulsion, safety data recorder, lighting, obstacle detection, etc.) including subsystem interaction and subsystem functions.

At the same time - and since a LRV is a complex assembly of mechanical, electrical and electronic components - always keeping in mind Customer Requirements, standards and regulations and makes maximum use of AT's standard building blocks.

There are strong interfaces with Operability, Safety, RAM-LCC, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers for you to discover and support.

You will learn how a System Engineer:

  • Manages and trace customer requirements from the time of contract start to vehicle acceptance.
  • Creates specifications to subsuppliers
  • Issues documentation to customers
  • Releases components for manufacturing
  • Supports Operations team in first manufacturing activities on a LRV
  • Supports Testing Team in the commissioning of a component
  • Tests components on a vehicle
  • Issues documentation to acceptance authority

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Availability for travel mainly in the DACH region, up to a duration of several days.
  • Fluent in English and good communication skills in German
  • Start date: September-October 2023 _
  • Duration: 46 months_
  • Weekly hours: 20 to 38.5 hours/week_
  • Salary: from EUR 2 236,16_ gross/month based on fulltime employment_
