Result of Service

A Development and implementation of the communication and advocacy plan for the Programme.

B Development of advocacy content in coordination with the Programme Team and the UNODC Advocacy Team, management of the Programme's X account, continuous update of the website/platform in line with a social media calendar, coverage of relevant programmes activities, and maintenance of digital engagement.

C Coordinating and preparing SHERLOC's quarterly newsletters in close coordination with relevant colleagues. D Maintenance and development of the Programme's website, as needed. E Collection and process of relevant information, data, and supporting material (i.e. video recordings, photo coverage) and production of web-stories and other advocacy products (videos, quote-cards etc.). F Contribution to the Programme reporting by collecting and analyzing social media and website analytics.

Duties and Responsibilities


Background of the assignment The post is located in the Conference Support Section (CSS), Organized Crime and Illicit Trafficking Branch (OCB), Division for Treaty Affairs (DTA), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The incumbent will work under supervision of the Programme Manager of the Global Programme on Implementing the Organized Crime Convention:
from Theory to Practice (GLOT60).

Qualifications/special skills


Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in communication, journalism, international relations, or related area (including graphic design, information technology, media, public relations, social sciences, film, video, multimedia production).

A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.


  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in advocacy and communications is required;
  • Experience with website content management systems is required;
  • Proven knowledge of social media applications is required;
  • Proven knowledge of video and graphic software such as, but not limited to, Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, is desirable;
  • Experience in crime prevention and criminal justice, organized crime or closely related fields is desirable;
  • Experience working in or for an international organization is desirable;
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing social media and website analytics is desirable.
Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
