AVVie is an exciting early stage medical device company with an innovative, minimally invasive technology for the treatment of mitral valve disease.

Tasks

Primary responsibility is to create and execute advanced simulation models, analyze results, and drive iterative design improvements to support the development and validation of transcatheter mitral valve devices in collaboration with the R&D team in Vienna.

  • Develop and implement advanced simulation models for product design and validation.
  • Conduct computational analyses such as finite element analysis in Abaqus (FEA).
  • Validate simulation results against experimental data and use findings to refine designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, and Regulatory, to ensure simulations meet technical and compliance standards.
  • Document simulation processes, methodologies, and outcomes in accordance with regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, FDA).
  • Research and integrate the latest advancements in simulation technology to drive innovation.
  • Support physical testing by providing insights derived from simulation data.
  • Evaluate and manage external simulation partners and tools.
  • Actively participate in design reviews and contribute to product development strategies.
Requirements
  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in simulation engineering, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • High Expertise in simulation tool Abaqus with proficiency in CAD software.
  • Strong knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and material properties.
  • Ability to validate simulation results with experimental data and iterate designs effectively.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of German is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills to present technical results to cross-functional teams clearly.
