AboutHearing and Speech Nova Scotia (HSNS) provides audiology services to Nova Scotians of all ages, and speech-language pathology services to preschool children and adults. The NS Government funds HSNS to deliver integrated and standardized provincial services across 35 clinical sites in 25 communities. Nationally certified Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists, with support from Communication Disorder Technicians and Administrative Support Professionals, provide core services (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment), develop and monitor provincial clinical standards, and collaborate with partners to deliver several special programs (e.g., Autism, Stroke, Cochlear Implant). Established in 1963, HSNS works to prevent and reduce the impact of communication disorders on Nova Scotians.
HSNS is accepting applications for a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) position of Audiologist. The home base site is Sydney, NS. The successful candidate reports to the assigned Manager. The schedule is to be determined.

- Master’s Degree in Audiology
- Nova Scotia College of Audiologists & Speech-Language Pathologists (NSCASLP) licensure or eligible for licensure
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in written and spoken English
- If English is not your first language further documents will be required.
- Recent experience with provision of Choose an item audiological diagnostic and management procedures in acute and outpatient settings
- Knowledge of discipline specific best practices in screening, diagnostic and rehabilitative audiologic services
- Recent experience with hearing aid verification and validation
- Experience with assessment procedures for the vestibular system
- Demonstrated commitment to family-centered care
- Flexibility in schedule to provide evening/weekend services
- Flexibility in work schedule to support outreach/parachute services
- Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel is required
- Flexibility to travel on occasion to attend continuing education, events and/or meetings
- Excellent interpersonal/organizational skills
- Candidate will have to demonstrate current immunization and/or boosters at the end of the probationary period
- Experience working with transdisciplinary clinical teams and working with supportive personnel (e.g., Communication Disorders Technicians)
- Experience in provision of outreach clinics
- Experience in providing student supervision
- Ability to provide bilingual clinical services
- Ability to provide clinical services in languages other than French and English
- Two years of clinical experience within the last five years
