Ela Drink & Meze – New Restaurant Opening in Cairns

Head Chef

We are looking for a leader for our brand new, Greek/Mediterranean restaurant. It will be a place to enjoy Greek-inspired flavours with food designed to share and cocktails made to devour and can’t wait to open our doors to the Cairns City scene.

You’re in safe hands we have established other restaurants before – with great teams and offering – so there is a lot of support and we feel we know how to execute a new venue well.

We’re looking ideally for an experienced Head Chef – leader in the field who want to associate with this new venue and create beautiful Mediterranean cuisine.

The menus have been developed in preparation for opening. We are seeking a Head Chef to take on the opening menu and focus on menu creation/updating as we settle into operations.

Opening is planned for early July 2024 but we are looking for the Head Chef to start earlier to begin preparations.

We have paid overtime for our full timers, and we are serious about not overworking our teams. On offer is a 40 hour work week plus salary package options. We’ve worked really hard to build a strong culture of respect for our teams so they stay with us long-term.

You will also have a brand new, shiny state of the art kitchen. The restaurant has been completely renovated and all the equipment are brand new so its a nice clean slate.

The role

We are looking for someone to come in and help build the team, alongside the Owners and with assistance from our HR Manager, for our new offering – and drive the venue as leader and Head Chef. We are looking for someone who has both the mix of service experience with a hands on approach, and the operational experience of being across financials, rostering and developing the offering.

Ideally

• Have at least 3-years’ experience in a Head Chef role
• Have a passion for food - loves food, dreams about food and loves sharing this passion with their team and guests
• Have experience in menu design and costing, rostering and stock control
• Demonstrate the ability and passion for delivering and staying on trend with high quality food and exceptional customer service.
• A hard-working leader with excellent management and leadership skills
• Have excellent communication, organisation and time management and work well under pressure
• Be a ‘good human’ - positive, high-integrity and passionate values are non-negotiable
• Plans to stay in the position long term
• Currently located in Australia, have visited Cairns or live here and love the beautiful lifestyle it has to offer
