About Triple Zero Victoria

Triple Zero Victoria (000VIC) provides the critical link between the Victorian community and the state's emergency services agencies. It provides Victoria's 24-hour emergency call-taking and dispatch services for Police, Fire, Ambulance and VICSES.

About the Role

The Executive Manager, Emergency Communications Services is responsible for, and has overall accountability of the leadership, management and development of 000VIC's State Emergency Communications Centre based in Ballarat.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Emergency Communications Services, the goal of the position is to lead, manage and motivate teams to reach their full potential and ultimately exceed target service levels, quality and expectations in providing emergency and non-emergency communications services to the Victorian community, whilst ensuring employee engagement and wellbeing.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the performance of the agreed service levels across the Centre, ensuring consistency with corporate policies and contribute to the standardisation of operational procedures between all Centres, ensuring appropriate quality assurance and improvement of operator performance and take appropriate remedial action, when necessary.
  • Ensure that the learning and development needs of centre staff are identified and addressed in a timely manner, standard operating procedures and work instructions are reviewed regularly, and employees comply with 000VIC's policies, procedures and Control Room Protocols.
  • Ensuring all audit and risk findings are dealt with promptly and corrective actions in the management response provided, documented, and completed within required time frames.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of and compliance with office and management systems and procedures including People and Culture, ITS, OH&S, Finance, Audit and Risk and employee health, safety, and wellbeing responsibilities.
  • Develop Staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans. Ensure that all aspects of 000VIC's performance management and development for the Centre are completed as required
  • Responsible for identifying centre resourcing for both the short and the longer term and the appropriate action is taken to meet those needs including effective resource optimisation and leave management.
About You

To fulfil the responsibilities of this key Executive leadership role, you will demonstrate the following:

  • Extensive demonstrable experience as a senior manager in emergency services, incorporating leadership, management and development of people; best practice operations; business and strategic planning; budget preparation and management; resource optimisation and workforce management; governance and reporting.
  • An understanding of emergency services, emergency management, telecommunications, employee relations and relevant Government Policy.
  • Strong people leadership skills, with demonstrable current experience in leading a high performing teams
  • Experience in providing authoritative strategic and operational advice at a senior level
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business or Management, or demonstrated equivalent expertise
