Our 50 plus person Hydrogeology and Hydrology (H&H) Technical Discipline is one of the largest in SLR APAC and includes over 35 Hydrogeologists. We currently have a great career opportunity for an experienced Hydrogeologist looking for that next step in their career. As a Senior Hydrogeologist within the Melbourne office, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a growing team and getting involved in a cross section of multi-disciplinary projects across Australia. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power, with a focus on mineral resource and extractive industries.

We are an active sponsor of the International Association of Hydrogeologists and focused on investing in industry best practice for the benefit of both clients and staff. We work in a collaborative environment across our H&H teams in Melbourne Brisbane, Townsville, Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney, Perth, Wellington and Auckland and closely with other SLR environmental specialists.

The role is diverse and provides a great opportunity for the right person to provide technical leadership, assist in growth, and drive innovative and sustainable project solutions for our clients. As a senior member of our team, you will play a key role in winning and delivering a diverse range of projects and providing mentorship to less experienced staff. Key Responsibilities Job tasks & Responsibilities
This role will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders across the region and provide you with the support on your technical growth within the wider SLR team. With a passion for Hydrogeology management and earth sciences you will have the opportunity to enjoy excellent career opportunities across a range of industry sectors. As a self-starter, you will be able to display confidence and high-level project management, tenders/proposals preparation, data analysis and interpretation, and detailed reporting. Strong hydrogeological conceptualisation skills would be highly desirable.

You will be expected to act as a professional role model for junior staff across the team with a caring and compassionate nature and contribute to improving the technical expertise of the team by sharing your knowledge and experiences.
As a Senior Hydrogeologist at SLR, your main responsibilities will include:
  • Interpretating scientific data to assist in the development of sound conceptual hydrogeological models
  • Preparing quality factual and interpretive reports based on field and laboratory data
  • Building the technical capability of the team through aiding and participating in the learning and developmental growth of yourself and your team members
  • Preparing tenders/proposals, and driving project management tasks including budget preparation and monitoring as required by project demands and timelines
  • Developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients, and SLR team members
  • Contributing to winning repeat client work by identifying and converting opportunities and drawing on your client relationship skills

Skills & Experience
Our ideal candidate will have between  5-12 year's industry experience (just a guide), including   experience within a consultancy group , and have:
  • Appropriate Engineering or Science tertiary qualification and relevant groundwater industry experience
  • Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
  • Strong hydrogeological conceptualisation skills, including analytical skills to critique data and develop systems understanding pertinent to individual project needs. 
  • Understanding and application of VIC groundwater related legislation and guidelines as applied to resource, development and infrastructure projects
  • Capacity and willingness to oversee junior staff preparing quality reports for internal and external clients on time and within set budgets
  • Developed self-review competencies to ensure quality of work is commensurate with skills and experience.
  • Aptitude for developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members
  • Demonstrated experience working with and successfully mentoring junior staff
  • Demonstrated successful project management experience
  • A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships
  • Australia Citizenship or rights to work in Australia
