Tranz Logistics is one of Australia's fastest growing Logistics providers of specialized transport and lifting solutions. We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Accountant withextensive Logistics industry knowledge and accounting operation experience. The position will be based in our HQ Brisbane office. We are firmly focused on appointing employees that fit our culture, and on developing individuals in line with our core business values.
Reporting to the Director, we currently have an opportunity for a CA/CPA qualified Financial Accountant to join our Finance Team. With experience in a small to medium organization, you must have sound knowledge of general ledger reconciliations, taxation (GST), budgeting and management reporting, together with a strong working knowledge of Excel and integrated accounting systems.
This role involves the preparation, maintenance, analysis, and reporting of accounting and financial information across multiple entities. You will ensure reliability and accuracy of information and reports, whilst ensuring that the financial accounting and statutory and regulatory reporting are performed accurately.
The business is expanding into an accounting firm where a partnership may be offered.
The responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Daily bank reconciliations, weekly and monthly cashflow forecasting
- Supporting the business with accounting related inventory processes and reconciliations
- Assisting with regular price updates across various systems
- Maintenance of BI dashboard and supporting dashboard users
- Assisting with KPI reporting, rebates, and commissions
- Maintaining integrity of general ledger by ensuring that all journals posted are complete, accurate and substantiated
- Co-ordinate End of Month and End of Year processes and reconciliations for reporting and analysis
- Ensuring consistency of cost allocations across entity, department, and Group Reporting
- Manage the procurement of assets and equipment, and maintain appropriate registers
- Timely and accurate production of periodic Profit and Loss, including review and analysis within deadlines
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and maintaining fixed asset and leased asset register
- Assisting with monthly forecasting and annual budget preparation
- Statutory compliance activities and preparation of all lodgments
- Ensuring integrity of company’s policies and procedures
- Answer and respond to staff & client emails
- Regularly check in with accounts team members and help to prioritise their daily tasks
- Assist the accounts team with queries & issues through the day
- Review & authorize accounts team submissions & invoices
- Monitor the accounts team productivity & provide feedback
- Attend weekly workflow meetings with sales team
- Attend weekly cashflow meetings with accounts team
To be successful in this role, you will be highly organized, meticulous, a great communicator, and ready to hit the ground running. You will require a strong focus on processes and systems, as well as financial acumen, including:
- CPA or CA qualified, relevant bachelor’s degree (Accounting major) MBA
- Experience in small to medium sized, or family business
- Experience working within a multiple entity organization
- 5+ years’ experience in a full function accounting role
- MYOB system exposure
- Demonstrated initiative within accounting or finance role
- Exposure to Transport, Logistics, industrial, distribution, or inventory-based business.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience
- Ability to supervise and review the work of other accountants less technical than yourself
- Good eye for detail and a high level of quality control
- Strong Taxation knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Australia
- Ability to review and complete; company, trust, partnership, SMSF, and sole trader financial statements and income tax returns, FBT, and BAS lodgments
- Ability to work in a busy team
