About The BUSY School…

The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 45 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.

The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 7 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.

Job Description

About the role...

The role of the Project Manager is to support the growth of The BUSY School through campus expansion and educational diversification projects aligned to clear strategic outcomes. This role is pivotal in managing and driving school growth and expansion in accordance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements, best practice project management and governance principles and adherence to internal policies and management processes. 

So, what does an everyday look like?

  • Assist in the preparation of strategies for school growth & expansion.
  • Manage the design, planning and commissioning phases of new campus openings.
  • Work closely with the Senior Project Manager to design, propose and implement diversified educational models. 
  • Plan and manage multiple projects, consult with key internal and external stakeholders, build and maintain exceptional professional relationships to ensure projects are delivered as scheduled, on time, within budget, to scope.

Desired Skills and Experience

About you…

  • Experience in the education sector is highly regarded.
  • Positive attitude, solutions focused, highly collaborative and cooperative 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
  • Proven Project Management experience, managing multiple and competing projects whilst adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Hold an Education, Project Management, Architectural, Engineering, or related degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills using project management software, Gantt Charts, risk and issue registers and proven contingency planning skills.
  • Experience in procurement and contract / lease administration.
  • Working with Children Card
