You might think you already know a lot about Bupa. Located just north of Newcastle, the RAAF Base Williamtown is the Air Force's main fighter pilot training base. Over 3000 people work on the base (both civilians and military).

The Williamtown Health Centre supports all defence members and their families on base, providing a range of services including Immunisations, Specialist Appointments, Outpatients, Physiotherapy, Medical Imaging, Psychology, Pharmaceutical Services and Audiometry. We play a key role in ensuring the overall health and wellbeing of all our defence members on base.

About the Role

As a Nurse Manager (internally called a Nurse Coordinator) with Bupa ADF Health Services; the role will see you providing leadership and support to your team at Wiliamtown Health Centre and maintaining Health Centre operations daily.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a NUM or nurse with leadership skills to stretch into a Nursing Coordinator role, growing your skillset and developing your expertise within the Defence sector.

Taking the role of a Nurse Coordinator you will:

  • Support operational capability by preparing members for global deployment and exercises
  • Take a hands-on approach to integrating with your team when the tempo requires it and to enable assessment of staff capability and process integrity
  • Accept responsibility for complex situations which may encompass clinical, managerial, and educational contexts e.g. assistance with emergency medical responses, clinical review, and complaint resolution
  • Coordinate sick parade, triage of members within a Primary Health Care Team model
  • Investigate clinical incidents to include review and corrective action feedback to staff
  • Review and update of department SOPs
  • Coordinate roster, staffing levels and supervision of the nursing and Defence Force staff, to enable the provision of high standard of health care

About you

To thrive in this role, you will be an inherently collaborative worker who enjoys working with people of all backgrounds to achieve common goals. You’ll be able to pivot to different workplace cultures and clinical environments easily, with an inherent focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.

You will also require:

  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Div 1 RN
  • Prior experience as a NUM/coordinator - minimum 1 year
  • Post Graduate Qualifications in Nursing or Health Management or working toward same with approval to undertake with an RTO
  • Base Line Security Clearence (desirable)
