Details: Are you a motivated Registered Nurse or Midwife who is ready to lead a positive safety culture in ACT public health services?
Sitting within the ACT Health’s Chief Nursing and Midwifery Office, the Towards a Safer Culture ‘The Next Steps’ Strategy is seeking a motivated, innovative Registered Nurse or Midwife to join a small team that is committed to embedding a positive safety culture in ACT public health services. Responsible for the provision of professional and strategic leadership, the Registered Nurse level 4.3 will use their high-level project management skills and in-depth knowledge of the clinical environment to provide health system advice and leadership.
The Towards a Safer Culture ‘The Next Steps’ Strategy has a strong focus on:
- the Safewards Model of Care,
- Clinical Supervision,
- occupational violence mitigation, and
- community awareness campaigns to create a culture of safety.
The role relies on the ability to provide strategic leadership, manage key deliverables of the project, liaise with stakeholders and ensure compliance with governance and reporting requirements.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience in a chosen clinical nursing or midwifery setting.
- Hold and maintain AHPRA registration as a nurse and/or midwife.
- A post graduate tertiary qualification in nursing, midwifery, management or project management is highly desirable.
- Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
Notes: This is a temporary position available from 12 August 2024 to 12 September 2025 with the possibility of extension. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
