Our Safety Delivery & Operations group is focussed on delivering a safe and reliable electricity network and play a major role in building and maintaining Ausgrid’s network.

Join us as the  System Operations Engineer  as part of a close-knit System Operations team to make real time operational decisions, in a very collaborative environment with colleagues and stakeholders. 

Your new role

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the System Operations Engineer will have an essential role in supporting a safe, reliable, sustainable, and affordable network for our customers. You will be responsible for utilising relevant systems and databases, including appropriately managing asset and network data and information.

Your key responsibilities will be (but not limited to):

  • Provide Engineering support to Control Room Operations.
  • Maintain systems and processes which support Control Room and broader business function.
  • Advise on the Control and Operation of Ausgrid’s Transmission and Distribution Network.
  • Implement new equipment and processes onto Ausgrid’s network.
  • Aid incident management, investigation & reporting processes.
  • Electrical Network Security, Reliability, Recovery Planning and Stability of DNSP Assets.
  • Interface with Network Security, System Operations, SCADA Operations, Network Planning, Outage Planning, GIS, Field Teams, Customer Teams and HV Customers.

  • Proven experience and engineering expertise gained in operational, engineering or specialist technical roles within the electricity distribution or relevant industry.
  • Engineering Degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) giving entitlement to full membership of Engineers Australia.
  • Class C drivers licence.
  • Sound understanding of Protection, Network Planning, risk analysis, system studies and investigations.
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking or managing multiple tasks and / or projects and prioritising activities.
