Principal Mechanical/Process Engineer, Water

A specialised Engineering Consultancy delivering innovative and sustainable water solutions is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Mechanical/Process Engineer to join our dynamic team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will lead and manage complex water projects, providing technical expertise in mechanical and process engineering. This role requires a deep understanding of water treatment, distribution, and wastewater management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of mechanical and process systems for water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed engineering plans, specifications, and reports.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert advice and mentorship to a team of engineers and technical staff.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met.
- Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for complex engineering challenges.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in water engineering.
- Support business development efforts by preparing proposals, estimates, and presentations for potential projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional recognition.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical/process engineering within the water sector.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale water and wastewater projects.
- Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, hydraulic systems, and mechanical equipment used in the water industry.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
