About the Role

This Government Department operates a critical transport service for important stakeholders, managing around 50 drivers and a fleet of vehicles that must be available around the clock. We are seeking an experienced Transport Service Operations Manager to conduct a comprehensive review of current transport operations. The goal is to identify areas for improvement and provide prioritised recommendations to enhance policies, processes, scheduling, resource allocation, productivity, data usage, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a thorough review of current transport and fleet operations, including policies, processes, systems, and data usage.
  • Identify gaps and areas for improvement compared to best practices in similar-sized or larger operations.
  • Observe and understand the existing ways of working by integrating with the current team, ensuring a sensitive and tactful approach to maintain team morale.
  • Produce a detailed report with clear, actionable recommendations for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the transport service.
  • Prioritise recommendations based on impact and feasibility.
  • Work closely with the Transport and Fleet teams to gather insights and ensure that their input is valued and incorporated into the review.

About You

  • Previous NSW Government experience highly regarded
  • Proven experience in managing or operating a transport service of similar size and scale (or larger).
  • Demonstrated ability to assess operations and quickly identify improvement opportunities.
  • Experience in producing comprehensive reports with clear, prioritized recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work sensitively and tactfully with existing teams.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
