PURPOSE OF ROLE:
- To progress all elements of a project from an agreed scope to a delivered on-time, on-budget project plan.
- Clear feedback and reporting of project progress to the Chief Engineer and Project Sponsors.
- To ensure required standards of Health & Safety, Statutory Requirements and GMP are maintained at all times.
- Effectively and efficiently deploy both internal and external resources to meet operational requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Management of multiple projects at any one time – full responsibility end-to-end.
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time and in budget.
- CAPEX input.
- Building and presenting business cases for presentations.
- Writing project plans.
- Projects to include facilities – locker rooms, toilets, offices, loading doors, security offices, canteen.
- Factory – all Process and Packing areas.
- Managing full installation and commissioning of all equipment.
- Managing a network of company-approved and inducted contractors.
- Ensuring all H&S on site is adhered to; risk assessment, relevant insurances, full contractor control.
- Constant communication with stakeholders; Technical, Operations, Engineering, H&S.
- Set out clear engineering project plans for the organization, with clear and regular communication with project members, suppliers and sponsors.
- Set clear expectations regarding standards, compliance and conduct.
- Manage, drive and support continuous improvement activities to deliver measurable, sustainable benefits through the management of the CI Engineer.
- Use the appropriate everyday problem solving tools (breakdown reports, GSTD) to get to the root cause and eliminate repeat problems.
- Attend and actively support the engineering meetings when required.
- Fully support the Manufacturing Specialists to improve the cereal processes.
- Lead improvement activities make the line operations more cost-effective.
- The job holder is required to do all tasks considered as relevant by their line manager.
- Responsible for the management of activities which ensure food safety, authenticity, legality and quality.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Project management experience – within a food or food adjacent environment.
- Must have tangible track record of successfully managing full project lifecycle within a food / food adjacent environment.
- Cost and contractor control experience.
- A qualified engineer, to HNC and/or NVQ Level 3 standard in an electrical, mechanical or multiskilled discipline.
- Several years’ experience in a manufacturing role, with a track record of implementing new and improved processes in a factory environment.
- Electrical qualification – minimum Level 3
- Knowledge of control systems within a FMCG environment (desirable).
- Familiar with CMM systems.
- Strong influential style within a team.
- Proven ability to prioritise with excellent organisational skills.
- Structured approach to problem solving.
- High self-motivation & drive, able to effectively lead a team.
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working hours as and when required.
