About the role: 

Reporting to the SSE. You will: 

• Meet Open Cut Examiners responsibilities as outlined in the Coal Mining Health and Safety Act 1999 and the Coal Mining Health and Safety Regulation 2017.
• Fulfil the statutory requirements for the Open Cut Examiner including inspections and reporting;
• Participate in development and review of risk assessments, PHMP’s, SOP’s and other Standards and Procedures relating to mining activities in or around the mine excavation, as directed;
• Effective utilisation of shift personnel and equipment resources to achieve the mine plan and production targets; 
• Demonstrate visible and engaging leadership to achieve production plans; 
• Effectively communicate with other departments and teams to develop detailed weekly plans;
• Effectively communicate shift performance in a timely manner; 
• Engage with crew members in pre-shift meetings; 
• Have a very high commitment to health, safety, quality, and the environment. 

 Lifestyle: 

The Open Cut Examiner position is offered on a 7/7 Day Night rotating roster. 

To be successful you will have: 

• Certificate S11
• Current Australian Drivers Licence. 
• Experience working for a medium to large mining operator/contractor. 
• Experience in multiple mining facets, (Prestrip, Dragline, Coal Mining, Dozer Push and auxiliary tasks). 
• Current Coal Board Medical, or willingness to complete along with a Pre-Employment Medical. 
• Open Cut Examiners Certificate of Competency (QLD]; 
• A minimum of 5 year experience working as an OCE; 
• Knowledge of statutory laws and regulations governing open cut coal mining; 
• Ability to drive a high-performing safety culture that delivers safe production outcomes. 
• RIIRIS301 Apply Risk Management Processes (formerly QMS1), 
• RIIWHS301 Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (formerly QMS2) and 
• RIICOM301 Communicate Information (formerly QMS3) 
• ICAM Lead Investigator
