About the role
The Victoria Operations Service Stream provides a range of services that support people living with severe and enduring psychosocial disability encompassing housing and Housing with Support (HWS), Adult & Youth Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC), community based psychosocial programs including Early Intervention Psychological Support Response Service (EIPSRS) and Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Hubs (CMHWS), Youth Residential Rehabilitation Support (YRRS), out of home care and headspace services, family and carer respite services and Family and Carer Led Centres. Services are designed to support clients, families and carers heal from the impact of mental ill health focusing on achieving wellbeing goals, enhancing recovery, building capacity and daily living skills, maintaining sustainable housing, improving relationships with families and carers, developing community connections, and living safely and independently in the community.
This is an excellent opportunity for internal applicants with proven leadership experience, to get exposure to a General Manager role within the Victorian Operations team. The role will be offered as a secondment for a fixed term 6-month period, on a full-time basis. Managing the Western region, you will provide leadership in operational and financial management, nurture partnerships with service providers and stakeholders, and mentor evidenced-based practice to support delivery of services to clients, families and carers. The General Manager will drive strategy implementation consistent with organisational strategic and operational plans, achieve service performance and budget targets, and manage services in line with approved systems, policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership to services supporting Service Managers and Team Leaders to mentor staff to deliver high quality, recovery-orientated services to clients.
- Build staff capability, lead effective practice, manage service delivery to meet client needs and program requirements, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure the services operate consistently and ethically within guidelines and comply with policies, procedures, statutory regulations, funding agreements and accreditation standards.
- Manage staff and positively contribute to service culture, set clear direction and performance expectations, and model high level practice standards and behaviours.
- Supervise and oversee service budgets and ensure performance targets are met.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders, service providers, government agencies and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to the client’s recovery goals.
- Regular travel to services across the region which will at times include overnight stays.
- Provide escalated out of hours support through General Manager on Call roster arrangement.
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary degree qualifications in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing or other health related field as designated by Mind.
- Post-graduate tertiary degree qualifications in Mental Health, Community Services, Allied Health or Business Management is highly desirable.
- Significant demonstrated experience in a senior leadership role in a complex, contemporary environment.
- Proven leadership skills to positively influence, effectively build and coach a team to achieve high quality service outcomes and performance targets.
- Extensive knowledge in mental health service delivery, legislation, policy and procedure development, and tender submissions that comply with funding body and partner requirements.
- Successful track record in nurturing relationships with service providers, partners and key stakeholders.
