We're looking for a senior family lawyer to take up a special counsel or similar position in the practice. Our new colleague would have a broad range of experience in all aspects of family law, demonstrate excellent client management skills and have a commitment to their own and the firm’s continued professional and financial success. 

We have a close team who enjoy working together and so our favoured candidate would work well with their colleagues and be prepared to provide mentoring opportunities for junior staff.

Our principal has been practicing family law in Australia for over 20 years and has acted in disputes involving large and complex asset pools.

We look forward to meeting the successful applicant.

Qualifications & experience

  • 7+ years' experience as a Family Lawyer.
  • Excellent client relationships and impeccable file management skills.
  • Appearances at procedural hearings and interim hearings.
  • Experience with complex asset pools.
  • Having worked on a range of parenting disputes.
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and client presentation.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Assuming full conduct of family law files of all varieties, and assisting principal as required.
  • Able to appear for procedural hearings and occasionally interim hearings if needed.
  • Managing client files including retainer, ongoing monitoring of fees, and drawing up bills.
  • Preparing and advising on Pre-Separation Binding Financial Agreements 
  • Match and fit in with the culture and expectation of the team
  • Demonstrate an excellent rapport with family law clients
  • Working with an excellent team.
  • Exposure to wide range of family law matters including large and complex asset pools.
