Purpose of Position:
Hexagon Mining in partnership with our client will deploy and operate a world-first fleet of 120 fully Autonomous Road Trains to carry ore 150km to the Port. Hexagon Mining has multiple exciting opportunities for an Autonomous Offboard Engineer's to join our team full-time in Western Australia on this cutting-edge Autonomous Road Trains project.
The role of Autonomous Offboard Engineer will work in a team deploying, supporting, and maintaining all the Offboard Automation Systems. This role will be offered on a fixed term 12-month contract with the potential to become permanent.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Participate in the Offboard Technology detailed design collaborating with Hexagon and our client engineers.
- Commission Autonomous systems onto client supplied server and network infrastructure to efficiently run Hexagon’s autonomous suite.
- Coordinate implementation of software updates and patches.
- Ongoing system monitoring and performance optimisation.
- Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and offer guidance and solutions for the autonomous suite.
- Primary technical liaison point for the end-to-end autonomous mining operation.
- Implement and manage cyber security measures to ensure the vulnerability risk eliminated on the autonomous suite.
- Compliance with Hexagon Mining’s Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures (and those of clients’ sites visited), participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health of oneself and the safety of others.
- Attend site and company meetings as required (Pre-starts, shift handover)
- Representing Hexagon Mining in a helpful, professional, and courteous manner always.
- Other duties as required from time to time.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
- Experience in an Operational Technology mining or heavy industry environment.
- Technical experience in deploying and managing Fleet Management Systems, Mine Technology, Operational Technology, Autonomous Systems.
- Experience across different technical areas such as networks, databases and applications.
- Experience establishing and monitoring security and change management controls.
Knowledge & Experience Desired:
- Qualifications in Computer Science, Networking, Applications Embedded Systems or related discipline (or an equivalent level of industry experience).
- Experience establishing best-practice support and maintenance procedures focusing on MTTR and MTBF.
- Project experience deploying autonomous haulage systems (AHS) or fleet management systems (FMS).
Travel
- This is a fly-in-fly-out position to Ashburton on an 8:6/7:7 roster for a healthy work-life balance.
