Medium Rail Plant Operator – Night Shift - Geelong

  • Permanent Night Shift opportunity on a 5days on 2 days off roster. Hours of work are:
    • Hours of work are 9pm – 5am.

About the role

As the Medium Rail Plant Operator, you are integral to the success of V/Line’s Network Development, Assets and Maintenance Group.

Reporting to the night shift Ganger, you will be responsible for operating medium category trucks and plant to assist with the maintenance and renewal on track between Werribee and Warrnambool.

Key Accountabilities include:

  • Loading and unloading equipment for transportation.
  • Taking full responsibility for the truck and plant ensuring maintenance and servicing are completed as required.
  • Participating in the replacement of rail components like track, ballasts, and fastenings, and performing general maintenance and cleaning.
  • Ensure that all operations comply with safety standards.
  • Assist the team with manual labouring tasks when not operating plant and machinery.
  • There will be the requirement to work overtime, stay away from home, travel to different locations and work different shifts on occasion.

  • Hold a certificate II Rail Infrastructure or be willing to obtain within the first 6 months of employment.
  • A valid medium rigid (MR) Truck License is Essential.
  • Backhoe operator experience with the required competencies.
  • The ability to work permanent night shift, work away from home, Overtime and on call when required.
