Details: The Security and Emergency Management Division (SEMD) is primarily responsible for the development and coordination of strategic security and emergency management policy matters for the ACT Government. SEMD has a whole-of-government focus and works closely with security and emergency management personnel across all Directorates.
We are looking for a motivated individual who will undertake a range of accounting and financial activities including internal and external budgeting and capital and financial management reporting, including routine reporting and analysis of financial performance. The successful applicant will possess strong communication skills and the ability to develop a positive rapport with colleagues, broader staff, and internal and external stakeholders.
The Assistant Director, Senior Management Accountant will proactively assist in providing accurate and timely financial information and budget advice to the Divisional Senior Leadership Team and will work closely with the Directorate Strategic Finance Team and Treasury.
The Assistant Director, Senior Management Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring strong governance and oversight of the grant management processes including acquittals and reporting to external agencies. The position will also assist with budget processes as well as financial statement processes and annual report requirements.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
- Experience in the use of complex spreadsheets and financial management systems such as TM1.
- Relevant accounting or equivalent qualifications, or significant progress towards gaining them.
Security clearance: This position is a Designated Security Assessed Position. Australian citizenship and a current Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance, or ability to obtain and hold an NV1 security clearance, is an eligibility qualification for this position.
Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. This position will be located in a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
