This role focuses on shaping infrastructure project scopes, coordinating designs, preparing tenders, administering contracts, and managing construction to meet the needs of Council’s residents and ratepayers.

Responsibilities & Outcomes

  • Oversee the execution of major multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, serving as a Senior Project Manager and acting as the Superintendent's Representative or Superintendent for construction projects.
  • Provide professional engineering assistance and support across a diverse range of disciplines and management processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project management matters, offering specialized advice, fostering innovation, and tackling complex problem-solving.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, approved standards, policies, and procedures related to project management practices and processes.
  • Supervise preconstruction activities such as project scope development, design, cost estimation, and constructability considerations.
  • Cultivate and sustain ongoing working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication to keep stakeholders informed about project progress.
  • Demonstrate leadership and effective management of systems, processes, costs, quality control, and resources for the program delivery of infrastructure assets.
  • Develop and uphold efficient operational and management systems and procedures, implementing performance measures to continually enhance work practices and performance.
  • Oversee and mentor staff in the delivery of capital infrastructure projects across various identified position responsibilities.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive background in engineering, building, or architectural infrastructure projects.
  • Highly developed ability to plan, organize, monitor, and manage staff and contractors, ensuring performance meets agreed targets and standards.
  • Robust experience in building productive relationships at all organizational levels across different departments through a collaborative approach.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills in the area of community consultation, liaison, and public relations, emphasizing the provision of quality customer service.
  • Strong ability to manage and deliver timely outcomes while handling conflicting priorities.
  • Actively contribute to fostering a healthy, inclusive, and well-connected workplace.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, architecture, construction management, or another relevant field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in project management highly desirable.
  • Current C class driver’s license.
  • Construction Induction Card competency acquired or utilized within the past 2 years
  • Desirable: RPEQ registration.
