About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is actively seeking Advanced Clinical Coders who can contribute to their dynamic team.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to organise their work efficiently and prioritise tasks to ensure completion within designated deadlines.

The role involves assisting with audits in a hybrid medical record environment, with experience across a broad spectrum of specialties and evidence of meeting KPIs for accuracy and throughput.

Successful candidates will be able to analyse highly complex medical record content and abstracting required clinical content relevant to the episode of care, adhering to ethical and professional standards of practice.

The role also requires precise assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes, as well as diagnosis-related groups, for intricate medical records, following the SWSLHD clinical coding competency guidelines.

What You'll be Doing
The advanced level clinical coder is expected to undertake highly complex coding clinical coding and assist the clinical coding team to ensure coding reflects the complexity and accurately describes the hospital casemix. The position is expected to meet the requirements of the SWSLHD Clinical Coder Competency – Advanced Level.

Where You'll Be WorkingLiverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

  • Current and minimum three years clinical coding experience using ICD-10-AM at a tertiary hospital.
  • Extensive experience across a broad range of specialties with evidence of meeting KPIs for accuracy & throughput as set within SWSLHD Advanced coder coding competencies.
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills with high level attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to prioritise tasks and effectively manage time and resources to meet pre-determined targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to analyse, abstract, interpret and report information in clinical coding forums.
  • Enthusiastic attitude and demonstrated ability to work both independently, within a team and be flexible in a changing work environment.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of computerized PAS and record control systems, 3M Codefinder software, PICQ and a sound knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
