We are looking to hire an experienced Reliability Maintenance Engineering Area Manager to join the team at our Fulfillment Center (FC) in Lytton, Brisbane. The Reliability Engineering Area Manager is the line manager for a team of engineering technicians. They maintain the focus on safety by training, developing, and coaching their team.
Key job responsibilities:
- Deliver a high level of equipment availability by ensuring all preventative maintenance is conducted and internal processes
- Lead, support, and mentor a Reliability, Maintenance, and Engineering team, ensuring site operations are maintained in a safe, standard, and efficient manner.
- Work with the team and the wider network to harness the technical expertise available and build solutions.
- Support the Reliability Engineering Manager as they work with the Site Safety department & Site Leadership to implement, record, and audit safety and statutory compliance programs to provide a safe working environment for all staff.
- Implement network standards and focus on preventative maintenance to provide a high level of equipment availability to our internal customers.
- Ensure sufficient technical coverage is available for the shifts they own by organizing and directing the training program for the team.
- Manage local projects or support Australia-wide projects as assigned by the manager.
- Be prepared to work on shift to maintain a strong connection to the team and daily work.
After safety, the most important part of the role is leading your team and managing their performance and development, including organizing additional training. You’ll be based at one of our operational sites, which allows you to give practical guidance to your team and get a clear vision of what’s happening at your site. This involves collecting data and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. You’ll also have a chance to create an operational plan to make the site more productive and efficient. That will involve setting up new projects that improve everything from operational processes to equipment maintenance.
About the teamOur Reliability Maintenance Engineering or RME team keep our equipment performing at its best. We're a technically minded team, made up of excellent team players and guided by experienced leaders. We work together to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across our global network of fulfilment centres. Some of our people are leaders, who oversee the team as they work on exciting technology – some of which only exists at Amazon. We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Brisbane, QLD, AUS
Basic Qualifications
Relevant experience in managing people in an engineering team
Relevant experience as part of a maintenance team in an industrial or production environment that handles a variety of complex business processes
A degree in a technical discipline
Experience of automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems.
Excellent communications skills (written & verbal)
Experience of working to appropriate health & safety standards and regulations
Excellent computer skills (MS Office, CAD)
Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S basic knowledge

Experience of working with statutory regulations such as compliance checks and machine safety protocols
Experience in automated equipment, including packaging machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems
Experience of using data analysis tools and PLC-based control systems
Experience with project management or Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma processes
Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
