Responsibilities:
  • Attending and represent clients in criminal proceedings, including pleas of guilty, contest mentions, bail applications etc
  • Depending on experience, Magistrate Court hearings and appeals, Preparation of indictable briefs both for the County and Supreme courts, instructing at trials, and some superior court appearance work.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to build strong cases
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external partners to achieve optimal outcomes for clients
Requirements:
  • Recognised Law degree
  • Admission to the Bar in Victoria with a right to practice
  • Proven experience in criminal law is preferred but we look at graduates if their passion lies in the criminal sector
  • Strong litigation skills, including courtroom experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and upholding the principles of justice
