About the Role

Arthur Creative offers a range of arts-based workshops for emerging and established artists with disability. Arthur supports artists to explore their creative abilities or to build a career in the arts. Visual arts, performing arts, film and photography, screen printing and product development make up the core program. Artists could exhibit and sell their artwork at different events, arts festivals, and gallery pop-ups in the region.

We are seeking a Senior Studio Coordinator to join our Arthur Creative service division. This role involves providing high-quality guidance to staff and stakeholders, ensuring the development and management of exceptional disability services for the individuals we support and their families or carers. The successful candidate will coordinate our Arthur Creative service at Melba Support Services, staying true to our principles of delivering individualised, flexible, person-centred care. This position is ideal for experienced educators, including retired teachers, or artists seeking to expand their professional horizons.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide regular support, guidance and management to the Arthur Creative Studio team which includes permanent and casual staff with regards to service coordination, individual support plans, and evidenced-based behavioural interventions and strategies where required. 
  • Actively participate in organisation initiatives including strategic and operational planning, Leadership & Management Team meetings.
  • Work with artists and their families/support circles to create goals and plans for their time in the Studio, and track progress against same, ensuring excellent record-keeping and reporting.   
  • Provide day to day planning, leadership and management of staff and the art program.
  • Manage within program budgets in regular consultation with the Head of Community Services.
  • Keep abreast of the broader funding context, and identify potential funding opportunities to the Head of Community Services. 
  • Assist staff to identify and use appropriate communication strategies to meet the needs of clients and colleagues .
  • Highly developed communication, rapport building, listening and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain each person’s right to confidential services and privacy. 
  • Provide timely reports to internal or external stakeholders as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • We're looking for someone driven to make an impact to the lives of the people we support and a genuine passion for building capability and coordinating our Arthur Creative program.
  • Manage priorities and workload in a busy environment and with requests coming from a number of sources.
  • Ability to judge and make decisions on priorities.
  • Well-developed written and reporting experience and skills to meet funding and organisational requirements. 
  • Ability to implement and support change, including key influencing skills.
  • Ability to relate to people with disabilities in a collaborative, positive, respectful and supportive manner.  
  • Understanding of the facilitation and delivery of arts based programs.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of trauma informed support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience in a senior position including financial management; continuous improvement and quality assurance; workplace health and safety; and human resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program assessment, planning and development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative management skills.  
  • Understanding of, and a commitment to, the values and goals of the organisation. 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in the arts and cultural sector and/or highly developed skills and relevant experience in this sector.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in social work; community welfare or behavioural sciences and/or highly developed knowledge, experience and skills in working with people with disabilities.
