The Role
MinterEllison is seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our Information and Data Governance (IDG) team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring compliance with our IDG policy and managing related technologies and processes.
You will work closely with the Senior IDG Manager and stakeholders across the business to implement the firm's data governance strategy. With support from firm leadership and continuous investment in market-leading tools, this is an exciting opportunity to drive change as we embrace AI, navigate evolving data regulations, and meet the expectations of our clients and the market.
Key activities and responsibilities include:
Provide direction, guidance, and support to IDG stakeholders across the firm.
Play a key role in preparing for and supporting internal and external audits; respond to client requests.
Coordinate and facilitate working groups, acting as a liaison between technical and business users.
Develop, maintain, and support data governance processes, ensuring usage and compliance.
Implement and manage the metadata layer and Information Lifecycle Management processes.
Support the IDG solution and its users.
Report key metrics to the Senior IDG Manager on engagement, compliance, and solution utilization, including recommendations to address issues.
Identify and address operational data risks or issues, escalating where necessary.
About You
The ideal candidate is a data professional with a technical and/or consulting background, experienced with large, complex information systems. You should possess a strong understanding of data risk and regulatory compliance, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Around five years of experience in Information and Data Governance, Data Management, Records Management, Data Engineering/Administration, Data Analytics, or Data Quality roles. Ideally in a regulated environment. Legal or consulting experience would be advantageous.
Bachelor's degree or higher in information management, computer science, or a related field; industry and vendor certifications; Records and Information Management (RIM) qualifications and experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying data governance and information management frameworks, methodologies, and best practices. Experience with industry benchmarking frameworks is advantageous.
Demonstrated experience managing or participating in audit, risk, and compliance-related activities.
Strong process modeling, technical/business requirements development, scripting, and automation skills.
Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases, structured and unstructured data, data modeling, and data architecture design and documentation concepts and tools.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently to prioritize, meet deadlines, and achieve excellent outcomes.
