Are you an experienced early learning professional who’s ready to take their career to the next level, honing leadership skills and helping to build a successful business?
As the Assistant Director, you will use your experience and leadership qualities to engage and motivate your centre team to drive continuous improvement in all aspects across centre operation. You will work in collaboration with your centre leadership team and establish respectful and reciprocal relationships with families and engage in networks within the centre’s local community.

Nestled in the heart of Gateshead, our Centre offers a vibrant setting for children to thrive. With six meticulously designed rooms catering to 86 children, our centre provides a nurturing environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers alike. From sensory-rich learning experiences aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework to nutritious meals and essential supplies, we prioritize comprehensive care to support families throughout the day.
Our outdoor spaces are havens for exploration, featuring age-appropriate play areas that blend natural elements with stimulating manmade features. Here, children can freely discover sandpits, gardens, and even a worm farm, fostering a love for nature and curiosity about the world around them.
At the core of our philosophy is the belief in cultivating strong relationships. Each child is paired with a dedicated 'key educator' who prioritizes understanding their unique needs, interests, and strengths, ensuring tailored support for optimal development. Through community engagement initiatives and enriching activities like daily art and music experiences, we foster a sense of belonging and creativity, inviting families to embark on a transformative early learning journey with us at Goodstart Gateshead.
In this role, you will:
- Support the Centre Director in the leadership of the team to provide high-quality early learning and care
- Mentor and build capabilities within the centre team
- Be responsible for the overall management of the centre in the Centre Director’s absence
- Use and implement the Goodstart Practice Guide
