Your Role:

Working closely with senior business leaders and external parties, you will provide informed, agile, commercially oriented legal guidance to our rapidly expanding business group. You will draw on a proven track record of commercial legal practice and/or litigation to provide expert advice to optimise our business operations while meeting all relevant compliance obligations.

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will demonstrate strong leadership daily, steering key commercial negotiations and guiding our strategic approach to business agreements. Your skills and advice will be integral to our effective delivery of an exciting period of growth at a national scale.

Your remit will encompass a broad range of commercial relationships and contracts with nationally recognised brands and organisations. You will work with senior figures from multiple business units to lead, educate, and advise on best legal practice for a diverse portfolio of business operations across the country.

About You:

We are looking for a dynamic, accomplished legal professional who offers comprehensive expertise in commercial law, a passion for leadership, and a strong base of commercial acumen. To succeed in this role, you will understand how a large organisation functions, and how we can achieve sustainable growth in line with our ethical and legal obligations.

With a minimum of eight years of senior legal experience and a proven ability to lead, you will draw on your acute commercial insight and exceptional interpersonal skills to deliver optimal business outcomes. You can navigate complex legal landscapes across multiple jurisdictions and regulatory frameworks. You enjoy the challenge of major contract negotiation and take pride in the solutions you can deliver.

Your Contributions:

• Work with – and provide legal advice to – our entire business group.
• Manage major business and property transactions, including:
• acquisitions and purchases.
• franchise agreements and negotiations.
• development applications.
• leases.
• sub-divisions; and
• construction contracts.
• Manage a diverse range of complex and standard contracts, and legal documents.
• Monitor and review internal governance policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of legal compliance and ethical conduct.
• Manage external factors to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for a diverse range of operations.
• Draft, negotiate, and structure a range of commercial and related contracts.
• Support contract and tender management throughout the business.

What We are Looking for:

• Licensed to practice law within Australia.
• Minimum eight years of post-admission experience, with at least three years of commercial practice at a recognised law firm
• Strong knowledge and experience in commercial contracting across multiple Australian jurisdictions
• Sound understanding of legislation and legal principles relevant to our operations.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously, independently prioritising tasks and identifying risks.
• The highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
