About the Role
The role of Team Leader Credit & Settlements is to support the Senior Manager, Credit and Settlements in achieving program outcomes, as well as to:
- Assess simple and complex Commercial Finance applications and loan variation requests;
- Assist in the development of risk management strategies;
- Support the security and settlement processes associated with small Business Solutions’ loan clients;
- Complete regular reviews of loans and the underlying viability of the customers’ businesses servicing those loans;
- Monitor the loan portfolio and its adherence to IBA’s policies and requirements.

Business Solutions work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to start and grow businesses. From entrepreneurs who are just starting their journey, to well established businesses wanting to expand, we offer a range of products and services to support our customers achieve their goals and be successful in business.
We do this through offering:
- Business Workshops designed to develop or increase business capability for customers at all stages of the business life cycle.
- Access to resources, referrals to business support and industry experts.
- Commercial Finance such as business loans, equipment finance, leasing, performance bonds and more.
You will also need a willingness and ability to undertake regional and remote travel, including overnight absences as required.
Duties included but not limited to:
- Provide guidance to enable the team to make productive, practical, and effective Commercial Finance credit decisions.
- Manage team activities, including managing performance, setting priorities, and planning activities.
- Support and coach team members and providing development and training, ensuring that the team meets its objectives and delivers results.
- Provide technical advice to the team and the Business Solutions lending staff, on credit risk / options, development of lending processes, business operations and improvement strategies.
- Communicate effectively with Business Solutions Senior Management, including in the provision of quality and timely information.
- Ensure the team complies with approved IBA policies and procedures.
- Sound knowledge of Core Banking Systems and driving system improvements to improve efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Other duties as required.
What you’ll bring to the team
- Experience in Leadership and/or Management.
- Knowledge and experience in commercial credit risks
- Knowledge of legal concepts.
- Significant experience and/or qualifications in finance.
- Demonstrated ability to implement solutions with Customers and delegates.
- Commitment to high quality customer service.
Cultural Capability
- Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander societies and culture.
- Ability to liaise and communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
