Assistant Accountant

About the role.

The Assistant Accountant will provide accurate and timely reporting and financial support to the Store Development function, including department KPI reports, capital spend reports, P&L reports.

Led by the Commercial Accountant, this role will also include business partnering with project management, procurement and project development teams, assisting with weekly, monthly and ad-hoc reporting; and supporting the Commercial Accountant with budgeting, forecasting and Corporate Plan cycle requirements.

What's involved:

Oversee the timely processing and payment of supplier invoices within the timeframe required by key stakeholders

Ensuring controls are followed in relation to good receipts and project/PO overspends

Assist team with Supplier Statement Reconciliations and complex supplier queries.

Assist the Store Development function achieve its strategic and operational objectives through the timely production and development of reports and data including; Project Spend and Forecasts, Department KPI Scorecard, Invoice turnover, Project overspend and ad hoc reporting requests

Project setup and maintenance

Ensure the accurate capture of project spend, and ongoing monitoring of spend against approved capex

Provide financial and commercial support and advice to the store Development Leadership Team.

Support in the preparation of the Store Development admin P&L budget and forecasts

Support the Store Development team with overhead cost control

Look for opportunities to streamline and automate existing reporting.

You’ll need:

Completion of Commerce or Business degree

Progress/ completion of CPA or CA studies

Minimum 3 Years of experience in Finance/Business Partnering role

Exposure to TM1 & Power BI (desirable)

Knowledge of Accounting principles 

Proficient computer literacy in particular Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
