This intelligence position is attached to the Northern Region policing area which encompasses both Townsville and Mount Isa policing districts. This position is part of a two-member intelligence unit of civilian Intelligence Analysts (A05 & A06) located in Townsville that assist District Management Teams through the production of operational and strategic intelligence support as well as supporting major and organised crime protracted investigations.

This position frequently liaises with external State and Federal law enforcement, non-law enforcement government agencies and external agencies.

The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Provide direction and assist in driving the QPS Strategic Plan through the provision of intelligence services to Commands and Regions in the assessment of problem places, cases and issues.
  • Provide high level analytical advice and support to QPS officers in relation to targeting strategies.
  • Plan and prepare complex intelligence assessments in relation to crime and other community safety matters utilising accepted intelligence processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective networks within the QPS and with external partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement effective work practices with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • May be required to provide supervision and direction to other staff members.

Role Requirements:

Qualification:

  • Qualifications in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, intelligence, law and/or previous work experience in intelligence will be favourably considered.

Other:

  • A knowledge of online collection techniques will be highly regarded.
  • The successful applicant may be required to undergo psychometric assessment prior to appointment.
  • Applicants are advised that whilst performing the duties of the position they may be exposed to material (written, visual and audio) of a graphic and sensitive nature.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to the minimal level of Negative Vetting Level 1.
  • The successful applicant/s must undertake intelligence training delivered by the Queensland Police Service in line with current policy.
