About the Project

The New Inner City Fleet (NIF) project will oversee the replacement of trains carrying customers from Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Blue Mountains and the South Coast. UGL will operate a new maintenance facility and provide maintenance and asset management services to the new fleet for 15 years.

About your role

UGLs Manufacturing & Maintenance business are looking for a highly motivated Performance Lead to join our NSW Passenger Maintenance project, based at our maintenance facility in Kangy Angy.

Reporting to the Technical Team Lead, your role will manage the engineering development process and carry out safety and reliability, availability & maintainability (RAM) engineering responsibilities that solve complex system requirements.

This role also leads and supports the attribution process including and reporting of reliability issues to the customer while ensuring the objectives are achieved in accordance with the Project Deed.

Specifically, your duties will include: 

  • Review and analyse train performance data and produce reports with recommendations on improvements
  • Manage and support the in-service reliability performance of the passenger car fleets
  • Coordinate and support the review of RAMS incident reports by our partners and the customer

About you

As the Performance Manager, you will have Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or Trade experience in a locomotive maintenance field. Previous experience in a reliability driven environment, such as a maintenance department will be highly regarded.

Other key skills and experience required: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical) or equivalent 
  • A thorough sound understanding and knowledge of train operations, systems and maintenance principles and practices 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and professional, analyses possible solutions using technical experience and judgement
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills
  • Customer focused, team oriented, accountable and results driven
