Dovetail are looking for a Senior Manager, Data to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals. You’ll lead a team of data scientists and data engineers; uncovering impactful opportunities for our customers and business as we scale.

What you'll do
  • Data infrastructure: you’ll be accountable for building on the technology stack we have today, to ensure that Dovetail’s data infrastructure supports the needs of the business and is fit for purpose as we scale our customer base and team.
  • Data strategy and roadmap: you’ll work with our leadership team and stakeholders across the business to define a strategy for data at Dovetail that supports our company’s mission and long-term objectives. You’ll be accountable for turning that strategy into a well defined roadmap and driving execution amongst that data team against that roadmap.
  • Reporting and analytics: provide teams with insights, dashboards, reporting and analytics that improve the quality of decision making and help people assess the impact of their work. You’ll work closely with teams across the business to understand their data needs, and ensure they have the data and capabilities they need to define and execute on their strategies.
  • Data driven culture: act as a partner to people as they seek to get the most value out of the data at their disposal and use that data as an input in to decision making. You’ll have an important role to play in driving our culture of data driven decision making and creating an environment where people can begin self-serving their own data needs.
  • High performing team: manage, develop and grow our team of analysts and data engineers and foster a high performing culture within the data team.
Your background
  • A great people manager. You'll have experience managing high output, high quality data engineering and data science teams, with a background scaling teams in high grow environments.
  • Cross functional collaboration. Proven track record of partnering closely with marketing, sales, product and finance functions andshipping high-qualitydataproductsthat support organizational objectives.
  • Business minded. You have a critical understanding of the impact that analytics can have on business performance, with a track record of success and learnings. Strong knowledge around statistical methods, includingforecasting.
  • Pragmatic problem solver and self-starter. You're able to zoom out and prioritise expertly. You’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, be resourceful to solve problems and be able to adjust to shifting deadlines and project goals. You'll understand that 'firefighting' is a reality of startups and not every problem is immediately solvable. Equally, you’ll prioritise strategic work to effectively scale our tools, systems and processes as the company grows and matures.
  • An outstanding communicator. You’ll be comfortable presenting complex analysis to a wide audience in a clear and concise manner, including the leadership team. You’re excellent at collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and gaining buy-in on projects, insights and outcomes.
  • Experience with modern data warehouses. You have a solid mental model of data flows between data warehouses, production services and Salesforce, and bring expertise in data warehousing best practices,ideally within a SaaS or startup context.
  • Competency with SQL. You’re fluent in SQL within analytical data warehouse solutions and in business intelligence and visualization tools. You must be able to write complex SQL as well as have reasonable working proficiency in languages such as Python as required.
  • Background in mathematics or statistics. A passion for leveraging data and analytics to guide business decision making and supporting less technical people in getting the most out of the data available to them.
