Work type: Part Time (Permanent) 6.50 hours per week

Schedule: Various shifts between the hoursof7am and5pm,Monday to Sundayand Public Holidays, as required.

About the role 

We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team. Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Preparation and proactive management of the annual operating plan and financial budgets for the department Monitor and report on monthly financial results 
  • Prepare, submit for approval and implement a detailed annual business plan for the department 
  • Manage employee work performance in the department. Identify and manage poor performing employees and take appropriate action to rectify the issue 
  • Implementing and complying with all aspects of the WHS Plan Demonstrating a visible and proactive commitment to Workplace Health and Safety Management. Identify, assess and control workplace hazards and risks 
  • Ensure all work practices and procedures comply with NATA/TGA/NPACC regulations 
  • Stay abreast of market developments in equipment as well as scientific literature and communicate significant findings 

About you 

To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:

  • Suitable tertiary qualification in Science, biomedical science preferred 
  • At least 6 years of experience in a highly automated laboratory 
  • Experience with staff training and supervision is an important requirement of the position. The successful candidate is to provide scientific and professional leadership to other team members 
  • Experience working with multiple instrument platforms 
  • Sound experience with laboratory based analytical tasks, method validation and verification, as well as clinical result validation and interpretation 
  • Knowledge of current Australian standards relating to NPAAC, NATA and TGA 
  • Sound experience with routine internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures 
  • Solid grounding in pathology-based IT and quality systems 
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills 
  • Willingness to travel interstate
