About the role

We are looking for aManagerStudies & Programsto build and lead an exciting new team within the Iron Ore Capital Projects division. Accountable for delivering studies from Order of Magnitude, through to Feasibility phase, applying a programs approach, to enhance study efficiency and capitalising on scale, this team will be integral to unlocking value for the business.

Reporting to the General Manager Capital Projects, you will:

  • Lead a team of studies professionals accountable for successful delivery of studies from Order of Magnitude through to Feasibility phases
  • Program categories include:
    • Fixed Plant Structural Integrity
    • Fixed Plant Mechanical & Process
    • Marine
    • Bulk Earthworks & Civils
    • Non-process Infrastructure
    • Water Management
  • Unlock business value through category level programs of work designed to enhance study efficiency and capitalise on scale
  • Partner with Rio Tinto Procurement and Sustaining Capital Engineering to co-design and implement the strategic engagement model with engineering service providers to support the programs approach with effective and sustainable partnerships
  • Oversee the portfolio of sustaining capital projects (across program categories) to ensure alignment with RTIO business strategy
  • Partner with the Finance Business Planning function to deliver a clear prioritised project portfolio to support the Five Year Medium Term Plan (MTP) and Annual Plan
  • Manage both internal and external approvals requirements to support study progression across program categories
  • Accountable for transparency of critical project issues/risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies across program categories
  • Accountable for managing and reporting on program categories performance (schedule and budget and portfolio level reporting)
  • Manage both internal and external approvals to support studies progression across program categories
  • Actively promote a collaborative culture with all stakeholders (internal and external), at all stages of the study for successful implementation (safety, speed, cost, quality)
  • Promote a continuous improvement mindset across program categories through lessons learnt

What you’ll bring

Courage to lead with Curiosity and Care and the prospect of influencing the success of Rio Tinto Iron Ore excites you.

You understand and have exposure to Business Strategy and strategic business drivers and have a background in Project Management & Studies, Commercial and/or Finance. Your have proven success in leading a complex piece of work requiring the coordination of a large multi-disciplinary team and can confidently engage and communicate clearly with a wide range of stakeholders.

Along with the above points you will showcase:

Where you’ll be working

You and your team will be Perth-based with opportunity to work flexibly from home combined with time in our Central Park offices. There will be the requirement for ad-hoc Pilbara site travel to engage with relevant stakeholders.
